In and about Vicenza
A journey of art and flavours
Hotel Villa Michelangelo’s strategic position makes it the ideal point of departure
from which to go out and explore the art and cuisine of this magnificent area. The
city of Vicenza, the birthplace of great 16th century architect Andrea Palladio
whose great works still grace the city, is just 6 km away and has been declared
a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The many villas he designed, as well as those
designed by architects who emulated him, dot the landscape between Venice to Padua
and can also be admired on boat rides on the Brenta Riviera. Padua is 30km away
and its Cappella degli Scrovegni, a masterpiece designed by Giotto in the 1300s,
is a must. Other places of interest include Bassano del Grappa for its museums
and food and wine, as well as Marostica, famous for the castle which dominates
the town from above. Verona is only a 40km drive, Padua is 60km away and Venice
is a mere 80km to the east.
